Home Fires Burning

What a whirlwind the past 3+ weeks have been. After being down at the beach from December 21 - Jan 4 with a spontaneous jaunt to south Florida, I started my "northeast tour" on Tuesday, Jan 6, after only 2 days at home in Charlotte.

It's Wednesday, January 14 today and I am in Charlottesville, Virginia, to spend a couple days at "summer camp" with my old friends Robin & Jan - who I've known since my days in Charleston in 1995. I arrived here by way of Farmville, Virgina, where I spent 4 days with Dad and Connie, then to Baltimore where I spent 2 days with Debra & Doug, 2 days with Abby F. & Ray, and 1 1/2 days with Amy in Gaithersburg, MD.

I have been graciously welcomed with open arms into these homes, and have been shown all measure of hospitality that can only come from people who really love you. I want to give a heartfelt thanks to all of you who gave me a place to lay my head during my travels, and for all the fun and shenanigans we got up to!

This was taken at Dad's - in the "new" guest room. The fireplace and flannel sheets were so cozy and inviting. I had a little bought of separation anxiety prior to leaving their house on Friday morning to head north. Not all that unusual for me, but a little more pronounced this time as I set off with lots of unknowns dragging down my mood. Fortunately Friday was a beautiful day for a nice drive up I-95 and as soon as I hit the DC beltway I was all smiles and giggles!
