On Thursday, last week, I met Amy for a bite after work to get caught up. I haven't seen her in AGES and it was so good to get the dl on everything going on at the hotel with the restructuring of the sales team.
Press is a new place just down from the hotel on Trade Street (although not as new as the Hooters that has just opened up across the street from the hotel - which is now the "view" from the Junior Ballroom - reason #427 I'm glad I'm out of it). I assume the name "Press" connotes the pressing of grapes for wine (or the pressing of olives for oil b/c they have kind of a Mediterranean vibe on their menu...? or both?). Either way thus they do not serve liquor, only beer & wine. But the fun part is they retail wines by the bottle which you can select then enjoy with a light meal prepared in their kitchen. It's a cool place, and the food that I've had in the past (mostly tapas-like apps, but sushi too) was quite good.
This time Amy and I both ordered the Turkey with Brie and Fig Jam Panini. One word - HEAVEN. This isn't the greatest picture of a sandwich ever taken, but here it is in all its melty, sticky, smokey, panini grilled goodness:
Our server was very attentive, if not a little spacey, but she did a good job and clearly the food was great, but the company was better!
